What can be done with Robotic Surgery

Robotic technology in the surgery room is now being used for gallbladder, ob-gyn, cardiovascular, orthopedic, heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux correction and endoscope positioning. Robotics is utilized in the field of medicine because it offers the high precision and control that minimally invasive procedures require, offering advanced visualization and control.

Dr. Aram currently performs MAKOplasty partial knee replacement surgery using the Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System (RIO). It uses three dimensional pre-surgical planning, and during surgery, provides the surgeon with real-time visual, tactile and auditory feedback to facilitate optimal joint resurfacing and implant positioning. It is this optimal placement that can result in more natural knee motion following surgery.
